Sustainability
Why
At Ermidio , we believe it is important to address common universal problems and create more sustainable development in our society, with respect to both people and our planet.
We want to take responsibility and actively contribute to solving universal problems. This requires some short-term and long-term goals. Therefore, we have chosen to work consciously based on the UN's 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
The UN's 17 Sustainable Development Goals were adopted at the UN summit in New York in 2015, where 193 countries participated, but only came into force in 2016 and will run until 2030.
The ambitious goals commit all member countries to completely eradicate poverty and hunger in the world, reduce inequalities, ensure good education and better health for all, in addition to developing decent jobs and more sustainable economic growth for all.
This requires an integrated effort to achieve results, therefore it is important to take joint responsibility and build concrete initiatives with integrated collaboration with partners and networks and implement these goals in the company's practice.
We have chosen to work based on the following UN Sustainable Development Goals:
Our short-term goals
Goal 12: Responsible consumption and production
Target 12.5 By 2030, significantly reduce the amount of waste through prevention, reduction, recycling and reuse.”
We will help our customers choose products made from sustainable materials that can be reused, pre-mixed or recycled. This applies to textiles that can be recycled, metals that can be melted and recycled and other materials that have the potential to be recycled and create a longer life cycle, thereby reducing CO2 emissions and protecting our environment.
We are not manufacturers, but we collaborate with Danish manufacturers and designers. We select products based on their properties and high qualities and present them to our customers in our webshop.
We want to reduce the consumption of materials such as paper, plastic bags and cardboard. That's why we use smaller gaps in parcel shipments. Shorter and faster logistics in our service.
We will pass on messages to you and create awareness about responsible consumption patterns of products, materials and services.
Our long-term goals
Goal 8: Decent jobs and economic growth
Target 8.5 By 2030, achieve full and productive employment and decent work for all women and men, including young people and persons with disabilities, with equal pay for work of equal value.”
Target 10.2 By 2030, promote and strengthen the social, economic and political inclusion of all, regardless of age, gender, disability, race, ethnicity, origin, religion or economic or other status.”
With Ermidio we believe in a diverse world community. We want to help create a positive view of humanity. Our world is diverse and this is a strength. All people are equal and therefore no one should be left behind in development and everyone should have opportunities to participate in our society. Therefore, we will focus on people with autism spectrum disorder and motivate others to support this group.
According to the Autism Society statistics, many young people with autism do not have the opportunity to get an education or a job. In Denmark , 3.2 percent of young people aged 12-30 have an autism diagnosis . They are a group of people who can be hidden and are quiet because they have difficulty communicating with others and many of them tend to be socially isolated due to their disability. Furthermore, only 5% of young people with autism are employed on ordinary terms, but part-time. We believe that this is mostly about acceptance and responsibility from all of us in society. People with autism should be recognized for who they are, without being deprived of their participation in society.
People with autism have other qualities that could be taken into account. They have a good memory, they are visually strong, they are loyal and goal-oriented.
Recently, we have had some examples of young people with autism who have engaged themselves in their problems and have created awareness in our society by showing their reality and organizing themselves in youth organizations in Denmark.
Ermidio will support people with autism in jobs and create tasks for them regarding their disability in our company. We believe that integrating people with autism in jobs is ethically correct. It is important for us to be able to encourage others to this purpose and we know that we can make a difference and create happiness for people with autism.
